Blue Mountain, Mississippi— Founded: 1873

Blue Mountain College, a denominational our-year liberal ats institution, seeks to prepare students for meaningful lives and produces graduates who are well prepared academically and spiritually to to accept places of leadershp in their profession, in their communities and in the the work of the denomination. Blue Mountain College was founded in 1873 as a woman’s college. During the early 1950s the college opened its doors to educarting men who were preparing for ministry. In 2005, the Board of Trustees of Blue Mountain Collge voted unanimously to take the college into full co-educational status. In 2007 the college added its first masters program—the master of education degree in elementary education.
