Brief Position Description:

Shorter University in Rome, Georgia invites applications and nominations for a dedicated Christ-centered visionary leader to serve as its next President. Established in 1873, Shorter seeks to “Transform Lives through Christ” and advance God’s Kingdom through its distinctly Christ-centered education. Shorter University’s next leader should be able to articulate and champion its mission of providing an excellent education within the context of a biblical worldview.

Presidential Profile:

• A person who loves Jesus Christ.

• A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) with a preferred minimum of 10 years of higher education management experience.

• An active member of a Southern Baptist church; minimum 10 years preferred.

• A recognized leader within the Baptist denomination who can affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), as well as the University’s faith and lifestyle statement.

• The ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of constituents, including prospective students, faculty, staff, and donors.

• A commitment to and proven success in raising support at an institution of higher education.

• A servant leader who has demonstrated a record of spiritual and professional growth.

• A proven record of working with others in the stewardship and development of University resources.

• A knowledge of and experience with higher education accreditation processes.
